On This Rock

READING: Matthew 28:16 – 20

During the hot summer of 2000, Pastor Bashir Deewan and I prayed, planned and planted our first church in Francis Town, Karachi.

How difficult it was to purchase this small piece of land in the slums of 8,000 homes. We hoped that this church would bring many to Jesus because this area was a common ground for drug trafficking.

Sin was ruling in the streets. Because of demonic strongholds, the opposition was very prominent. A time came when all the sin lovers got united against our church.

This was the most difficult and challenging time for us. But we continued to pray fervently and the Holy Spirit gave us courage and power to stand against this big attack we were facing until we had the breakthrough.

My beloved co-worker, always keep this in your mind that, whenever we plant a church in an area which is under the heavy stronghold of the devil, unexpected challenges will arise.

But the good news is this: The Holy Spirit is with us, giving us power to fight against the unseen. Today our church in Francis Town is the strongest in that area, growing rapidly.

Many of those who are possessed with demons are referred regularly to our Pastor, Bashir Deewan, and the Holy Spirit is giving them complete deliverance, healing and breakthrough.

If you have gone through or are now going through challenges like these, take courage. Jesus promised us in Matthew 16:18 that “upon this rock I will build my church and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.”

Heavenly Father, Thank You for planting churches through me. I surrender and depend on Your ability; use me as You want. Amen.
